Real-time Physics Simulation for Auto-Calibration of Paneling Structure
A real-time physics simulation in Grasshopper 3D (using Kangaroo) was implemented to optimize a hexagonal paneling system on a NURBS-based surface. The simulation allowed the panels to self-adjust under simulated physical forces—such as spring tension and edge constraints—resulting in uniform angles and consistent hexagonal shapes. This approach effectively prevented the stretching and distortion typically caused by surface curvature, ensuring clean, evenly distributed panel geometry across the structure.
